It was a day of joy, congratulations and thanksgiving for the family of Lumen Christi international high School, as on the 9th of December, 2015, she rolled out her drums to mark a triad of celebration. Firstly the myriad of awards received by the School in recognition for her high academic standard of excellence, secondly, her annual lessons and carols, and thirdly, the send-forth celebration for her erstwhile vice Principal in the person of Rev. Fr. Jude Otaigbe.
The ceremonies of the day began at 10:00 am with the Holy Mass presided over by His Lordship Most. Rev. Dr. Donatus A. Ogun, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Uromi, assisted by other Priests present. In his homily, the Bishop congratulated the Principal Rev. Fr. Dr. Theophilus Itaman and the entire management team for their efforts in improving the academic standard of excellence of the institution, which has made her stand out consistently as the best secondary school in Nigeria today. He praised the students for their constant effort to improve themselves also. He further admonished all that the key to success is hard work and that all should never be tired in our quest for knowledge. The Principal later led the entire Staff and students to the Altar in thanksgiving to God for his numerous blessings bestowed on the School.
After the Mass, the Bishop proceeded to commission the newly installed Computer Base Test complex, with over 250 computer systems which would be used for Jamb examinations. The Principal confirmed that Jamb officials had visited the complex and were very impressed and satisfied with the standard.
With the task of commissioning over, the jubilee Hall of the School was the next point of attraction for the commencement of the lessons and carols, send-forth party and award presentations, and a host of other activities, during which Guests were held spell bound to the marvelous presentations by the School Choir. There were also displays from the Drama and Dance groups of the school.
In his Speech, the Principal, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Theophilus Itama thanked God for the blessings bestowed on the institution, he also lauded the efforts of the Proprietor and management team of the School. He thanked the teachers who in no small way had contributed to the many blessings gained through their hard work.
After his speech, the Principal officially presented the three awards received by the institution recently to the Bishop who also doubles as the Proprietor of the School: award for 1st position in the annual LAPO Science quiz competition of 2015; award for winner of Edo State Governorship Debate Award of 2015, Award for the overall Best Aggregate WAEC Result in 2014, the LearnAfrica Education Development Foundation Award for overall best Candidate in NECO Examination in Edo State.
After the presentation of the awards and the consequent response of praise and appreciation of the team of Staff by the Bishop, guests were treated to more beautiful carols from the school’s choir, beautiful dance presentations and a wonderful drama presentation by the students of Lumen Christi International High School.
Later on at the event, the Vice-Principal, Rev. Fr. Amos Abhulimen, on behalf of the School Management performed the presentation of gift to the out gone Vice Principal, Rev. Fr. Jude Otaigbe, who later on thanked all who had made his stay worthwhile.
The ceremony finally came to a climax with the closing Prayer led by Rev. Fr. Andrew Asine while the Bishop Most. Rev. Dr. Donatus A. Ogun gave the benediction.
