The YOMM of Uromi Diocese participated in the 2016 National YOMM Congress at Archdiocese of Lagos, held recently. 18 YOMM members represented the diocese, and were led by the diocesan coordinator for YOMM – Rev. Sr. Angela Chidiogo Okeke [DDL]. The programme was held at Bethlehem Girls College, Abule – Ado, Lagos state, Themed: RAISING GODLY ENTREPRENEURS IN THE YEAR OF MERCY.
On arrival, there was Mission Rosary procession which concluded with the Vespers. On The opening Mass was celebrated by Right Rev. Msgr Bernard Okodua, the PMS Director of Lagos Archdiocese, who represented the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins. In his homily he admonished all YOMM members to be God fearing and to learn to use their talents and gifts to serve God. He taught the YOMM on how to address the Clergy and Consecrated Persons in the different hierarchy of the church.
At the close of the Mass, a welcomed address was delivered by the PMS National Director, Very. Rev. Fr. George Olusegun Ajana, and the YOMM National Coordinator Br. Peter Oluwasanmi Adubi also welcomed all present.
There was a talk on entrepreneurship titled: DEVELOPING AN ENTERPRENUERAL MINDSET. The lecturer taught all YOMM on how to empower themselves in business opportunities in various aspects of life: Agriculture, ICT, Entertainment and Social Enterprise. After the seminar there were quiz and beauty pageant competitions. The event also witness an excursion to Badagary, to the slave trade Seaport in Nigeria.
