A Skill Acquisition Centre was recently reconstructed and equipped for use by the inmates of the Federal Prisons, Ubiaja, by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Uromi, Most Rev. Dr. Donatus Ogun. The facilities, domiciled with the premises of the Prisons is meant to engage the prisoners towards personal development through skill acquisition. In line with the above, Computer sets were bought to help them become literate in computer skills, barbing kits and sewing machines were also provided for those who would want to obtain skills in barbing and sewing respectively.
The event which took place on Easter Monday, April 17, 2017, was also an avenue to celebrate the Easter festivities with the prison community and to bring the good news of salvation of Jesus Christ to them. There was abundant food for the prepared for the inmates to spice up their Easter.
His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr Donatus Ogun was on ground to do the commissioning and to encourage the inmates to be hopeful about life and to see their current situation as a fire of purification channelled towards making them better persons and to prepare them for the good return back to the society. He appreciated the prison officials for their good work and sacrifice in taking care of the inmates and gave them his blessings alongside the inmates. The Holy Mass had earlier been celebrated for the community by Rev. Fr Fidelis Arhedo to begin the celebration.
