Tuesday, November 24, 2015, became a remarkable day when the academic community of Ambrose Alli University celebrated one of our own – Very Rev. Fr Prof. Anthony Onyebuchi Echekwube. In the description of the university, Rev. Fr Prof. Echekwube is “An accomplished scholar, teacher, Catholic Priest and Professor of African Philosophy”.
A book was done in Father’s honour, titled: EXPLORATIONS IN AFRICAN PHILOSOPHY: ESSAYS IN HONOUR OF ANTHONY O. ECHEKWUBE, and was presented and lunched on this event.
As an accomplished scholar, Fr Echekwube has touched the lives of many and impacted knowledge into many who have now become outstanding and accomplished in various endeavours of life both within and outside the shores of this great nation Nigeria. Fr Echekwube has many books and publications to his credit also.
Apart from being an outstanding and accomplished scholar of the university, Fr Echekwube is also the chaplain, St Patrick Chaplaincy, AAU, Ekpoma. He has dedicated his life and resources into the spiritual and physical building of the chaplaincy.
Fr Prof. Echekwube is also a great sportsman. He has the Fr Echeks Cup to his credit, with which he promotes sporting activities among Catholic youths and students.
In the spirit of solidarity, the Catholic Diocese of Uromi was fully represented. Bishop Donatus Ogun, himself, led a delegation of priests and Religious of the diocese to the event to identify and give moral support to one of our own in the person of Fr Echekwube.
The Seminary community, led by the Rector, Very Rev. Fr Paul Oredipe was equally on ground to spice up the event with a song rendition by the seminarians.
