God, the Almighty Father who never leaves his flock untended was pleased to bless the Diocese of Uromi and the Universal Church with the gift of two new priests on Saturday, 28 December 2019. The new priests: Rev. Fr. Sylvester Praise Korie and Rev. Fr. Peter Freedom Omondiale were ordained by his Lordship, Most Rev. Donatus Ogun, Bishop of Uromi Diocese at St. Anthony Cathedral Uromi.
In his homily, Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okogwa exhorted the newly ordained to dedicate themselves completely to the priestly ministry to which God has called them and for which they have been ordained. He noted that the people of God expect their availability. Commenting on the Gospel passage, from Luke 10:1-9, he noted that Jesus Christ sent out his disciples on mission in pairs so that they may work together. He underscored the benefits of collaboration in the exercise of the priestly ministry.
Having declared their intention before the people of God, at the request of the Bishop, to undertake the priestly office, they were ordained priests through the imposition of hands and the prayer of ordination.
At the end of the ordination, the Bishop presented the newly ordained to their sponsors, Mr. Christopher Obeto (sponsor of Rev. Fr. Peter Freedom Omondiale) and Sir Engr. and Barr. Mrs. P. Aizanobe (sponsor of Rev. Fr. Sylvester Praise Korie) assuring the sponsors of the prayers of the priests they have contributed in training.
May God bless our new priests and grant them a happy and fulfilling priestly life and ministry. Amen
