It was a glamorous and spirit-filled event on Sunday, 5th October 2025, as the Uromi Diocesan Choir held its highly anticipated Cultural Music Festival at the Brother Roman Catechetical Centre, Ekpoma.
The festival, themed “Diverse Cultures; One Faith,” showcased the beauty and unity of the Catholic faith through the vibrant lens of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. The choir delivered mind-blowing musical renditions and cultural presentations, celebrating the diversity of cultures in the country while affirming a shared faith in Christ.
The event featured enthralling music, traditional dances, solo presentations, and rich cultural displays representing various Nigerian ethnic groups, including: Esan, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Benin, and Urhobom
While the Uromi Diocesan Choir as whole represented the Esan ethnic group, each of the five deaneries of the diocese equally took on a cultural representation, as follows:
Uromi Deanery – Igbo Culture
Irrua Deanery – Benin Culture
Ekpoma Deanery – Urhobo Culture
Igueben Deanery – Hausa Culture
Ubiaja Deanery – Yoruba Culture
In attendance were priests, religious, and lay faithful from across the diocese, all gathered in unity to witness this colourful expression of faith through culture. The atmosphere was electric, the performances were moving, and the entire event was a spiritual and cultural enrichment to all present.
As the festival drew to a close, attendees departed with joyful hearts, uplifted spirits, and a deeper appreciation for the unity that faith brings amidst cultural diversity.
We congratulate the Uromi Diocesan Choir for the success of this memorable event and for their inspiring performance. May God’s blessings continue to fall afresh on all who made this celebration a reality. Amen!
