The Psalmist says: “Not to us Lord; not to us, but to your name give the glory”. This was the expression in the hearts of Rev. Frs Amos Okhueleigbe and Joshua Irebhude as they both appreciated God immensely in the first year Anniversary of their Priestly Ordination. This celebration was one of a kind, because it also marked the launch of a book co-authored by Fr Okhueleigbe, one of the Jubilarians, titled: ANTHROPOMORPHIC PROJECTION OF EVIL.
The event, which took place at Brother Roman Catechetical and Renewal Centre, Ekpoma, was on December 29,2016. The Mass of thanksgiving was presided over by Fr Okhueleigbe, assisted by Fr Irebhude and a host of other priests, who were there to solidaritize with them: Rev. Fr Dr Matthew Ihensekhien, Rev. Fr Andrew Ogbenbe. Others were Frs Mario Aigbefo, Aloysius Oboh, and a few priests – classmates of the Jubilarians from Auchi and Issele – Uku dioceses.
In his homily, Rev. Fr Stephen Atsoboudu, from Auchi Diocese noted that events of this nature are times to appreciate God’s grace and goodness. He urged the Jubilarians always to be grateful to God in their lives, never to allow lukewarmness rule their lives, to dispose themselves to take corrections, to be regular at Confessions – since the one who cleanses also needs to remain clean.
Furthermore, Fr Atsoboudu encouraged them to be faithful to their prayers especially the Divine Office and to ensure to celebrate the Mass with deep devotion. He urged that they strive to always prepare their homilies before every Mass.
Directing his encouragement to the faithful, Fr Atsoboudu urged them to always have and give respect to their priests in spite of their human limitations. He told them to always see their limitations as a point of prayer to God for their priests.
A highpoint of the event was the thanksgiving procession of the Jubilarians, alongside family, friends and well-wishers; and the eventful book – launch of a book co-authored by Fr Amos Okhueleigbe at the reception venue after the Mass.
