The foundation stone laying for Rectory of St Matthias Catholic Church, Ewohimi, was done on March 12, 2016, by Bishop Donatus Ogun himself. By divine providence, St Matthias is the home parish of the Bishop, so it was more or less a home coming event for him.
Many parishioners were there to welcome the Bishop and to take part in the brief, but historical ceremony. In his remark, the bishop noted that if the parish could start another parish house after 19 years of it erection in 2003, it is a sign of growth and development in the parish and the individual parishioners. He concluded by praying for God’s assistance for the successful completion of the project, for the protection of the workers who shall supply the labour and for wisdom to do the right thing.
In a brief speech, the parish priest, Rev. Fr Jude Otaigbe, on behalf of his Assistant, Rev. Fr Augustine Ebosele and the entire parishioners thanked the Bishop for giving the parish his time generously by accepting and coming to perform the foundation laying ceremony. He prayed that the wisdom of the Lord may also guide the Bishop in his apostolate.
At the close of the event, a group photo was taken by d bishop with some of the parishioners.
