It was a day of joy and thanksgiving to God for the Sister of the Sacred Heart Congregation, and indeed for the Diocese of Uromi and Esanland as four worthy daughters of the Sacred Heart and indeed Esanland clocked 25 in the Lord’s vineyard as Rev. Sisters They were: Rev. Srs. Anne Akuetiemen SSH (Uromi), Anthonia Ugheighele SSH (Ubiaja), Josephine Ebuehi SSH (Ohordua) and Angela Abhulimen SSH (Ogwa).
The Mass of thanksgiving was presided over by the Bishop of Uromi, Most Rev. Donatus Ogun and concelebrated by Bishop Gabriel Dunia of Auchi Diocese, alongside a huge number of Priests from different parts of the world. The event took place at St. Anthony Cathedral, Uromi on the 19th of December, 2016. The event had in attendance Consecrated persons too numerous to count.
In his homily, Bishop Dunia highlighted the fact that it was always fitting to give thanks to God for all we have and can ever achieve; for God is the source of all. He thanked God for the life of the Sisters Jubilarians and thanked them for cooperating with the grace of God for the past twenty five years. He admonished them to continue to keep to the vows they made at their first profession.
After the homily, the Jubilarians made a Renewal of Vows and received a solemn blessing from the Bishop.
A highpoint of the event was the thanksgiving procession of the Jubilarians, alongside family, friends and well-wishers.
