Members of the Catholic Men Organization (C.M.O) of the Catholic Diocese of Uromi have elected new officers into various positions to pilot the affairs of the organization for the next three years.
Delivering the homily at the Mass, the Assistant Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ehanlen-Ewu, Rev. Fr. Paul Akhare who charged Christians to show Agape love towards one another and letting go bitterness and evils done to them, emphasized that Christian Religion has no room for retaliation and revenge. According to him, vengeance belongs to God. He admonished the incoming C.M.O. Executive to pilot the organization with the wisdom of God. He prayed for God’s presence to direct the day’s election.
Addressing members at the occasion, the out-going President of the organization, Mr. J.E Okokhere JP, (KSP), who appreciated the men for their co-operation and support throughout his tenure, solicited the continuous co-operation of members with the incoming Executive to enable her
realize her goals. He enjoined those aspiring for positions to possess the three “TS” (i.e. Talent, Treasure and time). He highlighted some of his achievements and appreciated Very Rev. Fr. J.J. Onolemhemhen who doubles as chaplain for the Diocesan and Provincial C.M.O.N for steering the CMO in the Diocese to the present stage. The out-going president also thanked and appreciated His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Donatus Ogun (OSA), Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Uromi for his prayers, support and care for the growth of the CMO in the Diocese.
Admonishing the men before the election, the Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Parish, Ewu and Chaplain of the Diocesan C.M.O. and Provincial C.M.O.N, Very Rev. Fr. J.J. Onolemhemhen said that it is important to know that elections are meant to change old hands and bring in new ones in any organized society which according to him, is biblical. He charged the C.M.O. members in the Diocese to be up and doing, stressing, that whoever will not be available for service should not aspire to occupy any position in the incoming Executive. The chaplain appreciated the Old Executive for the services the members rendered and prayed God to bless them in their various endeavours.
In his remark, the provincial C.M.O.N secretary, Mr. Apologun, S.A. delivered the good will message from the provincial C.M.O.N president, Comr. Egerega G.E.O and explained the constitutional requirement for the election). He congratulated the chaplain and the out-going executive as well as the members for their support.
The election exercise was supervised by the Diocesan C.M.O Cum provincial C.M.O.N Chaplain, Very Rev. Fr. J.J. Onolemhemhen and the provincial C.M.O.N Secretary, Mr. Apologun, S.A.
After the peaceful, but keenly contested election, the following members emerged as members of the new executive of the Diocesan C.M.O: Mr. Solomon A. Ukhurebor -President, Barr. (KSP) – 2nd Vice President, Mr. Agbeso John (KSM) – 3rd Vice President, Mr. Oribhabor Festus O. – 4th Vice President, Mr. Idaghe Augustine I – 5th Vice President, Mr. Egbele Walter E. – Secretary, Mr. Elemhonmhan Ambrose – Assistance Secretary, Mr. Ekpoma F.I.O – Treasurer, Mr. Ikhajiagbe C – Financial Secretary, Mr. Akhimien H. Sunday – Assistance Financial Secretary, Mr. Ehimen Francis – P.R.O I, Mr Gideon Akhuete – P.R.O. II, Mr. Abiebhode Samuel – Provost I; Mr. Aikore Lawrence – Provost II. Others are: Mr. Okokhere J.E. JP (KSM) – Ex-officio I, Mr. Ebulu S.O (KSP) – Ex-officio II, Mr. Azeke Emmanuel E. (KSM) – Ex-officio III, Mr. Osumah A – Ex-Officio IV and Barr. C.S. Ugege – Ex-officio V.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected president of the Diocesan C.M.O, Mr. S.A. Ukhurebor, thanked God for the successful election, appreciated the chaplain, Very Rev. Fr. J.J. Onolemhemhen for his direction as chaplain, appreciated the president of the provincial C.M.O.N who was represented by the provincial secretary – Mr. Apologun S.A. and Commended all C.M.O members present for giving them the opportunity to serve and work for the church. He expressed the determination of the new Executive in moving the organization forward and urged members to always participate actively in C.M.O. activities in their various parishes and Deaneries and the Diocese in general, because their unalloyed support would make the Executive realize the set goals and objectives and make the organization a reference point of growth in the province and nation at large.
