As is his custom, Bishop Ogun, on December 21, 2016, gathered around children with physical challenges and the Holy Childhood Association to mark the Christmas event with them. The essence of this party is to create an awareness of belonging in the life of the children, especially those with physical challenges.
The Mass to begin the event started at 11:00am. Present at the event also were Very Rev. Fr Richard Oboh – the Chaplain to the Lilian Fund Foundation, established to cater for physically challenged children and to give them hope and reason to live, and Very Rev. Fr Michael Akhighu – the PMS Director in charge of the Holy Childhood Association.
In his encouragement speech, Bishop Ogun expressed joy at the event and said that his fulfilment was seeing the children, especially those with challenges smiling. He urged them to keep up with hope and reassured them that they are vital and special part of Uromi diocese that can never be forgotten.
Highpoint of the event was the Carol rendition by the HCA children and dance both to entertain the Bishop and the physically challenged. And also, the gift presentation to all the children present by Bishop Ogun.
In the same spirit, Bishop Ogun also organised Christmas parties for Esan sons and daughter in the diaspora, whose contributions are helping to grow the diocese, the Clergy and Consecrated Persons working in Uromi diocese and those of Esan origin working in other parts of the world, and finally for the Altar Boys and Girls, who contribute in no small measure to befitting worship all over the diocese. These events took place on December 26,27 and 28 respectively. The essence was to appreciated their overall contribution in the diocese.
