On June 5, 2026, the Diocese joyfully celebrated the Blessing and Commissioning of the Marian Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes at the Home of Mercy and Peace.
The Home of Mercy and Peace is a diocesan institution in Uromi, dedicated to the care of the elderly and vulnerable members of society, through collaboration with the Sisters of Saint Louis.
To further enrich the spiritual life of the residents and visitors, a beautiful Marian Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was erected in the compound.
This grotto was generously donated by Prince Dr. Peter Okojie and Princess Vivian Okojie.
In his remarks, Bishop Ogun noted that the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the grotto serves as an invitation for all who visit to deepen their meditation, prayer, and relationship with God. He expressed profound gratitude to the benefactors, describing their generosity as a beautiful expression of faith and active participation in the Church’s mission of caring for the poor and fostering devotion to God through Mary.
We sincerely thank Bishop Ogun for his zeal, vision, and commitment to the care of the weak and vulnerable. We also deeply appreciate the benefactors, the Sisters of Saint Louis, priests, religious, and all the faithful who continue to support the mission of the Home of Mercy and Peace.
May God continue to bless Bishop Ogun and the Catholic Diocese of Uromi.
