….holds monthly CMO Mass
Annunciation Catholic Church, Irrua, held its monthly Mass on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Rev. Fr. Matthew O’Connel’s hall in the church compound. The Mass is scheduled to take place on the third Saturday of every month at 7.30am for the men in the Parish. The men came in their diocesan CMO attire. The four stations of the parish were represented, being the maiden Mass of the year.
The reading of the day’s liturgy focused on purifying one’s conscience from dead works, in order to serve the living God. In his homily, from Mark 3:20-21, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. SimonPeter Osinde accentuated the impact and effect of bearing witness to the gospel of the supremacy of the reign of God, both in public and private life of the follower of Jesus Christ, even to the point of laying down one’s life for this course. This could be seen in the life of St Agnes, who willingly risked her comfort, reputation, and life to propagate the supremacy of God. The day was her Memorial Day.
Fr Osinde highlighted the fact that Jesus relatives thought he was out of his mind as his zeal and commitment to the preaching of the kingdom left him misunderstood. The Parish Priest called on the men as Christians, following the example of Jesus Christ, to be ablaze with zeal and commitment as the church needs passionate Christians consumed with zeal to bring the consoling word of Jesus and his grace to everyone. The church should not become a cold or lukewarm, incapable of giving life to the world.
The man of God expressed his admiration for the men present at the Mass and charged them to evangelize their counterparts in the different outstations and zones. All the men were anointed by the Priest at the Mass, and all thanked God the following Sunday in the Masses in all the stations.
