It could be recalled that at the 10th Anniversary event of Uromi Diocese, a home for the helpless elderly was proposed for the diocese as a means of evangelization of the poorest of the poor, for which the administration of Governor Adams Oshiomole made commitment with regard to financial pledge to assist the diocese in achieving the project. In view of this, and as a show of commitment on the part of the diocese to her work of evangelization, September 29, 2016 marked the official welcoming of the Sisters of St Louis into the diocese of Uromi to assist the diocese in this pastoral care for the elderly within the diocese.
The Sisters of St Louis were founded primarily for the apostolate of taking care for the helpless elderly, the sick and the orphans, amongst others. This disposition makes them most suitable for this diocesan project of care for the elderly within Uromi Diocese.
The Sisters were led to the diocese by their Provincial Superior – Sr Isabel Mann, and were all received in joy by Bishop Ogun, Priests and Religious of Uromi Diocese. On ground also to welcome them into the Religious fold working in Uromi Diocese was Fr Franklin Udenze OCD – Vicar for Religious in Uromi Diocese.
Bishop Ogun, on behalf of the diocese, welcomed the Sisters and assured them of the support and homeliness of the good and committed people of Uromi Diocese. And in response, Sr Isabel Mann assured the diocese that they would give their best and collaborate with the diocese to make this work of evangelization a success to the glory of God and salvation of all.
