Thursday, March 17, 2016 became a memorable day in the life of St Patrick Catholic Church, Ebudin, as all turned out to witness the foundation laying ceremony of their rectory. The event coincided with the feast of St Patrick, the patron saint of the Mass Centre. It could be recalled that three months ago, precisely December 12, 2015, His Lordship opened the church and elevated it from the status of an outstation to that of a Mass Centre.
The laying ceremony began at 11.00 AM, and was done by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr Donatus Ogun in the presence of his Vicar General – Very Rev. Fr Francis Omonlumen, the Chancellor – Very Rev. Fr Dr Hilary Odenore, the Finance Administrator – Very Rev. Fr Dr Charles Akue, the host priests – Rev. Fr Nicholas Oboh, and host of other Priests and Religious, Sons and Daughters of the land both home and in the diaspora, and other well wishers.
In a brief speech, Bishop Ogun thanked the parishioners for their show of committment and prayed for God’s grace and favour upon them to enable them complete the project on ground. He then went ahead to bless the foundation, the labourers doing the building and the entire parishioners financing the project.
In his response, the Priest in charge, Rev. Fr Nicholas Oboh appreciated the Bishop on behalf of the parish and gave a brief progress report of the church since the last three months of opening.
At the close of the event, His Lordship gave the benediction.
