The Diocesan Laity Council led by Prof. Mrs E.O. Omoregie (President), recently won the award of the Best Behaved and Organised Diocese in the Benin Ecclesiastical Province. The award was conferred on the Laity of Uromi Diocese at the recently held provincial conference/seminar.
In this high spirit, the Laity paid a courtesy call to Bishop Ogun recently, to announce the good news to him and to make him a part of their joy. As they presented the trophy to him, they also used the opportunity to appreciate the Bishop for his pastoral vision, especially with the creation of five new deaneries in the diocese and more parishes and Mass – Centres, and for the spiritual and physical growth recorded in the diocese in recent times. It was still an opportunity to send compliments of the season to His Lordship.
In his response, Bishop Ogun thanked the Laity for their commitment and generosity which has materialised in whatever development is witnessed in the diocese. As a token of his appreciation, he gave them his blessings.
The Laity were accompanied by the Vicar for Laity, Very Rev. Fr Daniel Ewah.
