The Catholic Diocese of Uromi marked the grand finale of its 2025 Family Week Celebration today, Saturday, 30th August 2025, with a Holy Mass dedicated to the celebration of marriage anniversaries of couples who have reached significant milestones — 10, 25, and 50 years of sacramental marriage.
The event, held at Annunciation Catholic Church, Irrua was presided over by the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Donatus Ogun, OSA, who led the faithful in thanksgiving and offered heartfelt congratulations to the celebrating couples. In his homily, Bishop Ogun emphasized the importance of the family as the foundation of both the Church and society, encouraging couples to remain steadfast in love, faith, and mutual commitment.
Highlighting the occasion, the Bishop awarded certificates of recognition to the couples, commending their enduring witness to the sacrament of Holy Matrimony. The certificates were awarded as follows:
16 couples celebrating 10years of marriage
12 couples celebrating 25years of marriage
2 couples celebrating a remarkable 50years of marriage.
The ceremony served as a powerful testament to the strength and beauty of lifelong commitment, drawing wide participation from parishioners, friends, and well-wishers.
Following the Mass, a joyous reception was held at the parish hall, featuring music, refreshments, and moments of reflection and celebration. Couples and attendees shared memories, testimonies, and words of encouragement for younger families striving to build strong, faith-filled homes.
The Family Week celebration, which spanned several days, included talks, prayer sessions, and activities aimed at strengthening Christian family life. Today’s grand finale brought the week to a memorable and spiritually uplifting conclusion.
